Structural and Thermal Performance Assessment of Shipping Container as Post-Disaster Housing in Tropical Climates

Shipping Containers (SC) are a viable option as temporary or permanent housing for disaster victims due to their modularity, strength, and availability in large quantities around the world. While SCs alternative has been extensively explored, few studies have focused on structural thermal performance of tropical monsoon climate. This paper aims contribute better knowledge SC building construction by (1) investigating when subjected variety loads, including gravity, earthquake, very strong typhoon, (2) assessing hot humid The case Leyte, Philippines, hot, humid, typhoon-frequented region, is considered this study. To meet objectives, two were combined build single-family house. First, strength SCs, effect cuts openings, investigated using finite element analysis.
